From Introvert to Notary Networker
Overcoming Introversion
When I first ventured into the world of mobile notary services, I was driven by a passion for helping people, a curiosity for legal documents with a desire to provide a convenient service. As an introvert, the thought of networking and building relationships was daunting. But, to my surprise, my local community of business owners, and notaries across the country, welcomed me with open arms.
Joining the Chamber of Commerce
One of my biggest challenges was overcoming my introverted nature. However, from the moment I joined the Concord Chamber of Commerce, I felt a sense of belonging. Networking events felt overwhelming at first. With each event I attended, I grew more comfortable as I met more people. I learned to focus on meaningful conversations rather than trying to meet everyone in the room.
For instance, at my first First Friday Coffee, I walked into a room with over 80 people, recognizing only a couple of faces. They gave me a blue ribbon with “New Member” which flagged me as the new kid on the block. Despite my initial fear, people came over to introduce themselves and ask who I’d like to meet. This experience taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges. I can do hard things!
The chamber has provided countless opportunities to connect with other professionals, attend events, and I highly recommend joining your local chamber if you a business owner.
The Importance of the Notary Community
When I first decided to explore the notary world, I researched the notary world on TikTok and Instagram and started following notaries across the country. The support of the notary community has been invaluable to me as a new notary and business owner. A special shout out to my favorite, iPride Notary & Apostille, for their amazing Apostille and Google Business Profile training. Angelica, and her husband, Matt, are an amazing team and they also have a community page where my fellow notaries are there daily sharing their experiences, offering/asking for advice, and providing encouragement for each other. We may be spread out across the country, but have a common bond while we navigate operating a notary business that bonds us together.
Building a Network of Support
The sense of camaraderie has been invaluable in my new professional journey. I’m excited to see my network expand and be a valuable resource to others as well. It definitely works in both directions. It’s reassuring to know that although I’m a “solopreneur” I am not alone and that there are people rooting for my success personally and professionally.
